Maui's first film festival for kids, about kids
and by kids. Be Reel celebrates causes that
matter to young people - sustainability,
fairness, friendship, and the issues you
care about most.
SHARING WORLDS
TELLING STORIES
Amplifying youth voices
Over three days, our community will come together to watch films, share stories and amplify youth voices. Everyone’s invited!
CREATING IDEAS
Amplifying youth voices
And here’s the exciting part: Before the festival, we’re running a filmmaking competition for young creators, ages 6-20. It’s your chance to make a film, screen it at the festival and win recognition for stories that matter.
Got a story to tell?
Make a film about a cause
you care about.
Hunger. Ocean health.
Climate action.
Inclusion, Diversity
and Equity, Kindness.
What fires you up?
IMAGINATIONS
Be Reel Film Competition
Films that might change minds. Films that show what kids see that adults miss.
Be Reel is brought to you by Real Action for Kids (RAK), part of IMUA Family Services.
RAK works to raise awareness for the needs of Maui’s keiki and drive real action in our community. This festival extends that mission by giving young people a platform to tell their stories and be heard.
Young filmmakers under 18 will need parent or guardian permission to enter the competition. Simple consent forms will be part of the entry process when registration opens in January.
